Nursery To Do List

There’s a lot of diy projects that I’ve been thinking about and I would like to do in the nursery. I didn’t include a lot of explanation on this list but I’ll explain more of the whys and whats when I post how each of these things turn out. As usual this list is probably a little ambitious and it’s probably going to change as we work on it but here’s the starting point.

Winter To Do List

Winter 2013 To Do List

I know it’s not really winter yet but it’s not too early to plan ahead. I just talked about what I was able to finish on my summer bucket list and I thought I would make another list for this winter. This time I’m trying to be just a little more realistic.

1. Guest Bedroom Textiles:

I’ve been wanting to add just a little something more to the foot of this plain white duvet cover. A while back I purchased some more fabric I just haven’t quite decided what I want to do.

2. Finish Guest Bathroom:

This is probably the easiest on the list. I’m almost done with phase one for now really. All I need to do is clean it up and put things away again.

3. Paint Master Bed Canvas:

I’ve been wanting to fill the space above our headboard for a while now as well as just add a little something more to our room. I have a set of canvas’ I just can’t quite decide what I want to do with them.

Master Bedroom

4. Upholster Bar Stools:

Another slightly embarrassing project that I’ve had the fabric for a while. I purchased fabric at the same time I bought fabric for the kitchen window pleated valance (to make sure they matched) and I just haven’t gotten around to doing this.

5. Paint Baby Dresser:

This is probably one of the longest shots. I’m still not highly motivated since I know it will be time consuming. Especially now that it’s cold outside.

Summer Bucket List 4

Do you have a list of things that you would like to get done this winter?

Summertime Bucket List Recap

In the beginning of summer I made a very ambitious list of things that I wanted to do while the weather was still warm. Since the weather is cooling has cooled and it’s fall I thought I would go back and looks at what I was able to accomplish and what I still am looking to finish.

Well I finished 4 out of 10. Not too bad but of course I would have liked to do a little more. If you follow the blog you probably already know that the deck project has taken over a lot of our time and I haven’t been able to get everything done that I would have liked.

Many of the things that are left on my list involve painting. Since it’s gotten pretty cold already I don’t know that I’ll be able to get any of these done any time soon.

Did you have some summer projects that you wanted to finish? Were you able to get everything done that you wanted to?

Summertime Bucket List

I love how every season we say to ourselves well once this is over things will settle down a little….and it never seems to. Isn’t it that way for everyone? I’m thinking about this as we a starting to come upon summer here. I’ve got quite a list of things that I want to finish before the weather gets colder and I’m already beginning to wonder what the fall will bring.

Top things I want to finish this summer:

1. Paint Mini Couch Frame: I finally want to paint the couch frame that’s in our master. I talked about doing it last year but never got around to it. I still haven’t decided if I go for brushing on paint since it will be cheaper or use spray paint for the ease of use.

Summer Bucket List 2

2. Build Laundry Shelves: Now that the walls are painted I want to finally build the counter and shelving for this room. I would really appreciate having this room completed and well organized.

Painting Laundry Room 4

3. Paint Guest Bathroom: I’ve got gallon of paint already and I only need one more to paint this room. It’s not a huge priority but it’s one of the last rooms left to paint that we “use” and I have planned on painting in the near future.

Summer Bucket List 3

4. Paint the Baby Dresser: I inherited a baby dresser from my mom that my grandfather built many years ago. I love the look of it but I have been wanting to paint it white and change the knobs. I think it would be the perfect piece to store all my fabric and sewing supplies in for now.

Summer Bucket List 4

5. Build Malm Table for Master: I feel like this is such a simple and inexpensive project that I just need to do it. I have many plans for the master that may not get done any time soon but I think this one could be quick and attainable.

6. Paint China Cabinet: I inherited this china cabinet from my mom as well. She painted it years ago and it just needs a little freshening up and I’ve got a few things to update it.

Summer Bucket List 1

7. Recover Master Bedroom Mini Couch: I’m not in love with the covers I made and unfortunately they are starting to fray apart. It would be nice to finally finish up another thing in the master.

Summer Bucket List 2

8. Paint Dining Table: My little round table is looking just a little bit worn. It would be so nice to clean and freshen these up a bit.

Summer Bucket List 5

9. Paint Dining Chairs: The chairs are inexpensive Ikea chairs that have been a bit scratched up by the cats. They need a little sanding and freshening up as well.

10. Paint the Front Door: I already know the color I want to paint the door all I’ve got to do is find the time to paint it.

Summer Bucket List 6

Mostly on my list is a bunch of painting projects. It so much easier to paint when the weather is warm I guess so that’s why I’d like to get these done.

I know that looking at this list realistically they won’t all get done this summer. This is a lot of things to get done on top of some other big projects we have planned in the yard and of course spending some time riding the motorcycles and just relaxing outside.

What’s your dream project list for this summer?

Well that’s quite a list. I’m guessing that this is going to take many years to accomplish and what we decide to do will change frequently over that time.

Anyone else trying to list out and prioritize all the things you want to do in your house?

It’s a New Year!

Resolutions . . . Yeah it’s that time of year where everyone feels the need to make this grand list of all the wonderful things they will totally do this year. Well at least until February maybe. I’m not one that enjoys saying I will do something that I know that I will not, but I do very much list myself a list. So, since I have that blog I figured why not. Here’s a list a random vague things I wouldn’t mind doing this year.

1. Slow Down. If you know me in person, or maybe just through the blog you would know that I am pretty much always doing something. Even if I’m watching TV I have to be knitting, blogging, or something else. I think because of this and the fact that I love lists, I never take a break. Now that the holidays are over and I’m back to my normal routine I’m giving myself the permission to not do as much. Those curtains I intended to make months ago, they can wait another few if I just don’t feel like working on them now. That huge mess of a room filled with all the Christmas decor just shoved inside, I’ll just keep the door closed for now. All the deadlines are my own and they can wait. That is until I start going out of my mind with boredom.

Marshall and Lily

2. Organize. We have been in the house for almost a year (!) and although almost all of the boxes were unpacked and I try to keep things neat and tidy on the homestead, I still have pockets of craziness. Since I’m not planning on moving anytime soon I might as well work on some better organization. I think I really should start with the Christmas explosion. That really is just embarrassing.

Office Supplies Drawer

3. Finish Something Before I Start Something New. Yeah I tried this one at the end of last year. It went fine, and then Christmas came and not so much got done on the list, but a whole bunch of other stuff did. Even though it didn’t go perfectly (maybe I was a little to ambitious) I want to bring this one back to life. I have so many supplies and projects that are all over the house. I know I will not finish everything that I have going before I start something else. But instead of running out and getting something for a new project I’ll think twice about what I’ve got going at home. I won’t add to the list I had before since that would just be depressing and boring. Let’s just say I’m gonna try. Yes that sounds like a better Idea.

Messy Room

4. Blog. I guess this one may seem obvious. I’d like to make it through the whole year. I may not blog multiple times a week or even every week for that matter. I’m just not sure how this is going to work out yet, and since this is my blog I can do whatever I want. I would just like to look back on the year and be able to know that I added a few more posts and pictures of things I’m working on. Since that’s what I wanted to create the blog for in the first place. Me.

So there’s the short list. Anyone else have some goals for the next year?

It’s time to Git ‘R Done

When I came home Monday this is what my sewing room looked like. Yeah, well organized and easy to work on things in here.

I think lately I have been gathering a bunch of supplies to work on projects but I haven’t been finishing many of them. It’s high time I make a commitment to get some things done. So today I’m sitting here saying I will not start another project until I finish all of the following. Well, maybe I should clean up a little and then finish the projects. So that’s the order, clean then finish projects!

1. Living Room Fall pillowcases. I started these last week after I bought the fabric a while ago. Now all I need to do is finish them up. Update: They’re done. Check them out here.

2. Guest Room Pillowcases. I bought materials to go with the roman shades in the room, just need to sew ’em up. I finished the ruffly and pleated pillow cases. Check them out here.

3. Sewing Room Roman Shade. I have decided that I don’t like the curtains in the sewing room since they are really hard to open and close on the tension rod. I bought some fabric to make a roman shade to mount inside the window and a curtain rod to hang the curtains I already had to add color to the room.

4. Wooden slat sign. I started this months ago and it still sits partially finished. I really need to just get on this. Update: I finished it! Check it out here.

5. Christmas knitting. This is obvious, Christmas is coming and I have a list of projects I want to knit of gifts. Check out the lot of Christmas knitting here.

6. Wooden Box. I bought wood months ago to build a storage box for our bedroom. I finally got around to using that wood. Check it out here.

7. Sew Slippers. I had to throw out the slippers I knit and felted last year due to great abuse and major holes in the soles. I posted about my finished slippers here.

8. Sew Some Tops for Myself.  I hate shopping and I am low on winter clothes to wear to work. I am hoping to add a few more things to my closet. The first two tops are over here. Hopefully there will be more to come.

So here it is the official to do list! Anyone else have a long line of partially finished projects? Do you want to commit to finishing some before you purchase supplies for anything new?
